І. General part

The complete expert assessment was made under the program and test procedure approved by the Commander of outfit 44840. There was present for testing 1 storm carabine “Bakalov” without Number and 1 storm carabine № 970101 – improved model of the first one and AK-47 No BE 254345. From Carabine “Bakalov” No 970101 was shooting 600 shots, and with AK-47 – 150 shots. There were made technical services, maintenance and tests. All tests were taken with 7.62 x 39 mm bullets series ПС 3-68-10.

There were examined the following documents:

    1. Invoice for bought details for AK-47 issued by “Arsenal” No 02509 / 11.04.1996

    2. Order No 1340/18.12.1996 by Executive Director of “Arsenal” for produced 3 number carabines.

    3. Certificate for industrial Sample No 3204 / 03.12.1996

    4. Patent Application for percussion action system

    5. International application for Gas system and notification to national Patents АСТ BG 97/00011.

    6. Written Statements of the firing ground test made in НИТИ /…../– Kazanlak in 08.1997 for 6000 numbers shots.

The parts have been bought by “Arsenal” are made under the constructive documentation of AK-47.

On 08.09.1997 have been made firing ground tests in НИТИ /……/– Kazanlak in order to be defined the initial velocity, speed of the shooting, raining and dust.

For Carabine “Bakalov” are used constructive schema “BUL-PAP”/……/ providing for the barrel box to fitted with the butt-stock and contributing to shorten the weapon length and increasing the length barrel at the some time and shortening the vertical deflection of the barrel in shooting. The change over from single to automatic fire is accomplish through the trigger power changing.

The carabine “Bakalov” is consists of 72 numbers parts. 46 parts of them (64%) are taken from the shooting system of the “Kalashnikov” family (AK-47, AK-74, AKM, PПК, SRL-95/96).

1.2.Determining the stripping and assembling handiness:

The both systems are striped and assembled fast and easy.

1.3. Determining the charging of the cartridge-clip handiness:

The both systems are used the some cartridge-clip

1.4.Determining the official hardness of the parts and the safety of the weapon:

The both systems fulfilled the requirements.

1.5. Determining the exploitation hardness of the parts in repeatedly functions of the weapon devices and mechanisms:

In repeatedly works with the mechanisms of the both systems there was not arised problems.

1.6. Systems inspection and examination of the mechanism function with the training bullets:

All mechanisms and devices worked normal with training bullets in the probations. The inspection of the Carabine “Bakalov” determined 1² difference in parallel stage of the barrel box.

    ІІІ. Main conclusion

1.On this stage the storm carabine “Bakalov” (ЩКБ) as a storm system shows very good results. Through the some indexes (dimensions, initial speed of the bullet, length of the barrel, impulse of the shooting kick grouping and etc) carabine “Bakalov” exceeded AK-47, through the other indexes ( shooting in dust area, backfilling with sand, rain) the results of carabine “Bakalov” is lower than these of the AK-47.

    2. The probable reason for the hold backing and staying in Carabine “Bakalov” is  discrepancy of the hand made devices without special instrumental equipment and precise measuring devices.

    3. After the committee members determined the specifications and estimating the results under the “Test procedures for assessment armament and technic” they received the following relative coefficient of the technical level : for AK-47 – 0.93, for Storm Carabine “Bakalov” – 0,84 (Appendix 1)

    ІV. Recommendation and instructions

    1.     The storm carabine “Bakalov” system has a future and it is necessary to continue it development with the Bulgarian National Standard requirements B.203-82.

    2.     On this development has to be adjudge the stage “P”.Up to stage “O1” have to present all necessary constructor’s, exploitation and technological  documentations.
